I need new music!!

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

My friend James insists that the shuffle algorithm on the iPod is purely random. He works for Apple so he has the inside scoop, but I’m sure there must be some special mojo going on in there. What human DJ would think to spin Coltrane, Bebel Gilberto, Shudder to Think, and Peaches in the same set, and make it sound totally natural and awesome? I swear sometimes I even think the iPod is beat-matching. It’s the weirdest thing.

Anyay, while the iPod has made me enjoy music in new ways (and also solved a problem I didn’t know I had, which is my favorite kind of technology), it can’t make up for a stale record collection. Boy do I need new records. But I’m a total hermit and dork-wad, so I don’t know what to listen to. Please help me! I need a new flava in my ear.

Laura’s New Song

Laura has been working on an acoustic club demo and she posted one of the tracks here. This song pleases me very much.

Nortec Collective is kind of trippy.  Generally I’m more of a plaintive lyrics and heartfelt singing kind of guy but I must admit, when this song comes up on my iPod, I am compelled to “bust a move”.

An oldie but a goodie. This song pleases me, though I haven’t a clue what it’s about. I like the picture of David Gedge looking jolly.

Bloc Party is an awesome band. They opened up for some other band at the Target Center and I desperately wanted to go, but I lamed out for some reason. Can’t remember why. When I want to get somewhere fast I listen to this song.

p.s. I switched to a different music player from 1 Pixel Out.
